Lab Requirement
NYS Lab Requirement
Your son or daughter is required to complete and pass 21 earth science labs in order to take the New York State Earth Science Regents.
Late Assignment
Labs are due at the end of class. Late Labs lose 20%. If a student does not finish a lab they are expected to come to extra help to complete the lab. From the date the lab is due the student has 2 weeks to complete the lab. After the 2 week the student will still need to complete the lab for the regents 1200 lab hour requirement, but the student will score a zero as a grade.
Verbal Quizzes
Verbal Quizzes are zero or 100. The questions and the answers are found on page 2 of the notes packets. Each night students are assigned the homework of studying the facts found on page two. Students can turn the facts into index study cards. Parents are encouraged to help their son/daughter/student study for the test with the note cards. At the end of the quarter the verbal quiz score will be averaged and entered into eschool as "Quarter Verbal Quiz Average".
Lab Safety
Safety in the laboratory setting is paramount. If your son or daughter does not follow the safety rules and procedures he/she will be removed from the lab and will have to complete the lab after school. If he/she continues to not follow the rules he/she will be removed from the laboratory section of the class permanently and subsequently will not be able to sit for the regents.
Google Classroom
The student is responsible for all content taught during in school class and on Google Classroom. If assignments are not turned in on time then there will be a reduction of points for the assignment. One week grace period. After one week the assignment will be given a zero
